Hi, I'm Leora,  I'm a licensed psychotherapist in California and a Mom of 2.  An Eating Disorder Specialist since 2005, a recovered clinician and author of Reclaiming Yourself From Binge Eating: A Step-by-Step Guide to Healing and sort of a workaholic. 

I created this  website in my living room when the shelter in place order was placed in Northern California on 3/17/2020. 

It occurred to me the moment that this was instated that although this was a particularly difficult time for everyone mental health wise, it was going to be really scary for those who were dealing with an eating disorder. I knew that my own clients were struggling and I was concerned about everyone else out there struggling alone.  My hope was to get the word out that there are people who can see you and you can get help during this time. 

As those of us who have been through an eating disorder or who treat eating disorders know, eating disorders thrive in isolation. 

Being at home might be the best thing for humanity and for flattening the curve right now, but we want to make sure that your mental health isn't suffering.  If you are feeling nervous, scared, hopeless and your eating disorder feels out of control, or if you are finding that you are relapsing into an old eating disorder, or if you are just finding new coping mechanisms that are involving food (including disordered  or even just "wonky" eating and as severe as bulimia, anorexia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, rumination disorder, spit and chew, binge eating disorder, compulsive exercise disorder) please reach out to one of us. 

All the therapists listed on this site have extensive experience and training treating Eating Disorders.  Many of the therapists here offer some sliding scale and low-fee spots. 

All of the therapists and registered dieticians offer superbills so that you can be reimbursed by your PPO insurance. 

Some of the therapists might  be on your insurance panel as well. Do check with them as this information can be fleeting.
